An .olm file is the archive that Outlook for Mac writes when you export a mailbox. Outside Outlook nothing opens it, and on Windows Outlook can't read it at all. Under the hood it is a ZIP of XML files, one per email, plus the attachments; Mailtrail reads that structure directly.

How to do it

  1. Open the converter in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Nothing is installed and nothing is uploaded.
  2. Drop the .olm file onto the page. Files of many GB are fine: the archive is read entry by entry straight from disk, never loaded into memory as a whole.
  3. The folder list shows your Outlook folders (Inbox, Sent Items, subfolders, and the account name if the archive holds several accounts).
  4. Pick the outputs: one PDF per email (on by default), an attachments folder, optionally one merged PDF, .eml copies and .mbox per folder. Click Export and choose where to save the ZIP.

Don't have the .olm yet?

Export it from Outlook for Mac; see how to export from Outlook for Mac. Note that OLM export is only available in Legacy Outlook, and Microsoft is retiring Legacy Outlook for Exchange Online / Microsoft 365 mailboxes in October 2026.

What is converted

Emails, with HTML or plain-text bodies, inline images and attachments. Calendar items, contacts, tasks and notes in the archive are skipped. Sent and received dates are taken from the archive and shown in UTC in index.csv.

What you get

Private by design

The conversion runs inside your browser tab with Web Workers. Your archive is never uploaded, and there is no server that could see it. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads. The only network call is the optional license-key check, which sends the key and a random device ID.

Questions

Can I convert OLM to PST?

Writing PST files is not supported. You can convert the OLM to .eml or .mbox, which Thunderbird, Apple Mail and most archive tools import; see OLM to MBOX.

What does it cost?

Free for up to 25 emails per export. Standard ($29 one-time) removes the limit; Pro ($69 one-time) adds Bates numbering, page numbers, hashes and bookmarked merged PDFs. See pricing.
